PIL Against Bengaluru Tunnel Road Project: Karnataka High Court Sets July 6 Hearing

30 June 2026 1 min read By the Live Bengaluru desk

The Karnataka High Court has scheduled the hearing of a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) related to the proposed tunnel road project in Bengaluru for July 6.

The PIL was filed by Prakash Belawadi, Dr. A. Ravindra, and the Citizen Action Forum. A hearing in the matter was conducted today.

The government intends to acquire 5 acres of land within Lalbagh for the project. Petitioners have expressed concern that this would cause irreparable damage to Lalbagh, which is a designated heritage site.

Counsel representing the petitioners urged the court to take up the application seeking a stay order. The High Court has fixed July 6 as the date for the next hearing.
