Bengaluru, May 2: Distressed by the recent hike in commercial LPG cylinder prices, the Bengaluru Hotel Association has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding that the prices be reduced. The commercial cylinder price rose by a steep ₹993 on May 1, throwing the hotel industry into crisis. Owners have expressed anguish that running their establishments has become nearly impossible in the wake of the price increase.
Hotel owners find themselves in a no-win situation: if they raise the prices of food and snacks to offset the higher fuel cost, customers stop coming; but if they hold prices steady, they suffer heavy losses. Many hotel owners are in a state of distress as a result of this difficult predicament.
Through the letter, the Bengaluru Hotel Association has appealed to the Prime Minister to grant them a personal audience to present their grievances, and to immediately reduce commercial gas prices in order to save the hotel industry.
